A record number of friends from Prestonwood Singles Ministry returned to Bonton for Adopt-A-Block service day on Saturday, July 20. Bonton residents welcomed sixty Prestonwood “neighbors” into their homes, front porches and backyards on Dorris Street. Lawns were mowed, weeds were pulled, houses were painted, and yards were cleared of debris as friendships were being formed and renewed.
In the gospel of Luke, Jesus is questioned about what qualifies someone as our “neighbor” and what responsibility we have in loving those neighbors. Jesus answers with the parable of the Good Samaritan demonstrating that anyone in need is our neighbor and worthy of our love and care. Prestonwood and Bonton neighbors may be separated by a few miles, but their hearts are being united through love and service.
