What We're Reading - May

Rethink Poverty Conference - BridgeBuilders loves the Chalmers Center. Chalmers is a think-tank and resource group who work to equip the church to alleviate poverty around the world. Their founder, Brian Fikkert, is the author of one of the most influential books on poverty alleviation that we have read, “When Helping Hurts.” This October, Chalmers is hosting a two-day conference at Fellowship Bible Church here in Dallas. The Rethink Poverty conference is great for anyone who wants to jumpstart their thinking about the reality of poverty or who want to convene with other area leaders who are working to alleviate poverty in the Metroplex.

Pray for Those Living in Poverty - Nearly 45 million Americans live below the poverty line. It is the mission of the Church to seek to do good for those who are suffering the effects of brokenness. But with a number so big, where do we begin? By praying. Use this post to guide you in praying for God to bring transformation to those who are trapped in poverty both here at home, and abroad.

Seeing the Creator Through Coffee - For those of you who are fellow coffee lovers or for those of you who aren’t, this little two minute video is a great reminder that whatever we do, we are called to do it well unto the Lord and for His glory. Our work is how we serve others and, by serving others, serving the God who created us. Let’s do it well and enjoy it for His sake.
